Preparation for installing tiles can be quite involved as they require a flat, even surface. Any irregularities can show through and spoil the finish of the wall. Shower wall panels are much more forgiving when it comes to installation as they tend to find their own level when installed using adhesive (dabs of adhesive are applied to the rear of the panel and then the panel pushed back to the wall where it will find its own level).

One of the big problems with installing tiles in a shower area is keeping the grout clean and free from mould as the constant moisture and warm temperatures are an ideal environment in which mould spores can take hold.
